Finding Returns in Dividend – Paying Stocks

best dividend paying stock
Finding returns in dividend-paying stocks isn’t as tricky as it may appear. While many of us may choose to speculate in warranted Treasury Bonds, settling for 2.31% for 5-years is not really ego-boosting for many of us. In truth, one of the most well regarded instruments in the SP five hundred, General Electrical ( GE ) offers a dividend yield that surpasses this.
But the kicker is that GE also offers something that Treasury Bonds possibly won’t offer for a number of years to come : capital appreciation. Naturally, GE is only one of 500 stocks in the SP 5 hundred. Of all stocks that are a part of this world-respected Index, 368 of them basically provide dividends. That works out to just about three in four, obviously a major proportion. And of all those stocks that pay out dividends, the average dividend yield is 2.48%, a touch lower than the yield on GE stocks.
In reality, 147 stocks pay more than the average yield of 2.48%. Actually, the Top twenty-five highest dividend-paying instruments supply an average yield of 6.89%… No Treasury bond can come near to returning such an aggressive yield. But does that suggest that speculators should ignore all of the investment basics ,eg correct security analysis? Definitely not. What high investment frequently suggest is that the corporations that pay them could reduce them in the future.
For instance, Frontier communications which pays the highest dividend yield on the SP five hundred as of today could likely cut down its 11.54% dividend yield to something nearer to the group average ( or perhaps something nearer to the average of the Top twenty-five or Top ten. But even if Frontier were to reduce its dividend so that its yield matched the average, the average yield of those Top twenty-five would only fall to 6.7%, implying that those Top twenty-five actually offer some of the finest dividends in the SP five hundred.
Consider Qwest Communications, for instance. At a yield of 7.49%, it’s not the most assertive yield, but certainly ranks highly. Some of the other names in the Top twenty-five included ATT, Verizon, Leggett & Platt, and Eli Lilly. Every one of them are names that most of the people recognize ( or patronize on a continuing basis ).
